Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her.
Namoi warned her daughter-in-law that their future was not bright if they stayed with her. Both daughters-in-laws loved Naomi, but only Ruth made the sacrifice to go with her.
To follow Christ in obedience is to be willing to surrender ourselves to God and His will. To be willing to accept His will over our own will. To walk with God, even when the path He has chosen for us, is not the path that we would have chosen.
There is victory ahead when we fix our eyes on Jesus. Faith is trusting God, even when we do not understand God’s reasoning. One day we will be with God and He will make His reasoning clear to us. Until that day we must trust in Him and cling to Him, just as Ruth clung to Naomi.
